Inspired by Mitchell Rose’s dance film "Exquisite Corps (42 choreographers, 1 dance)," Director of the School of Theatre and Dance Jayme Host assigned her Intermediate Modern Technique class the task of videoing themselves dancing for about 15-20 seconds then emailing their work to the next dancer. Each dancer had to start in the position where the last dancer ended.
Former professional dancer and current filmmaker Daniel Madoff edited the film.
“Dancing Alone Together” is starting to be a commonly used phrase during this unprecedented time. So it made sense, as a reflection of our current circumstances, to use this as the informal title for our ECU piece.
